Yellowfin 36 Offshore
The Yellowfin 36 Offshore and the Invincible 36 Catamaran are built for the same job: running offshore fast and fishing hard when you get there. They take different routes to it. The Yellowfin is a twin-step monohull. The Invincible is a catamaran. Flying Bridge is factory direct for both brands, so this comparison is about fit for the way you boat.
The numbers side by side
| Yellowfin 36 Offshore | Invincible 36 Catamaran | |
|---|---|---|
| Hull | Twin-step monohull | Catamaran |
| Length overall | 36' 8" | 36' |
| Beam | 10' | 11' 8" |
| Fuel | 477 gallons | 606 gallons |
| Power | Triple outboards, 1,275 hp maximum | Quad outboards, 1,400 hp maximum |
| Weight with power | About 12,332 lb (light fuel load) | 17,100 lb (full fuel and water) |
The two builders measure weight under different conditions, so the weights are not a direct comparison.

How the hulls differ
Yellowfin calls the 36 its perennial flagship. Its twin-step hull is designed for running offshore in a chop with a balance of speed and efficiency, and a Seakeeper Ride 600 ride-control system comes standard. A Seakeeper 2 gyro stabilizer is optional.
The Invincible 36 rides on two hulls. A raised chine, a wave diffuser and spray-deflecting lines are shaped to keep the ride dry and soft, and the 11' 8" beam adds stability. Invincible lists a range of more than 500 nautical miles. With quad Mercury 300 V8s, it recorded a top speed of 69.7 mph and a typical cruise of 38.8 mph at 1.08 mpg.

On deck
The Yellowfin 36 comes with a dive door, forward lounger seating, a plumbed livewell in the transom and a second in the leaning post, an insulated fish box with a Gulper pump, and 14 Gemlux rod holders. A coffin box and a sub-console head are available.
The Invincible 36 offers 360-degree walkaround fishing on a single-level deck with a flat transom, and livewells above and below deck. A side dive door, a 70-gallon in-floor livewell and an electric head in the console are available.

Questions to settle before you choose
- Slip and storage. The Invincible is 20 inches wider. Check your slip, lift or storage rack before you decide.
- Engines. The Yellowfin runs triple outboards; the Invincible runs four. More engines add power and range, and more engines to maintain.
- Trailering. Yellowfin includes an AmeraTrail aluminum trailer as standard on the 36.
- How you fish. The Invincible's walkaround deck and flat transom suit crews who work the whole boat. The Yellowfin's forward lounger gives guests a place to sit up front.
The clearest answer comes from running both in the same conditions on the same day.
